HerpHusk from HerpXotics is a premium coco husk substrate that is 100% organic, sustainably sourced and perfect for all reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. HerpHusk is made from coconut husk generated as a by-product of other industries, making it a sustainable resource. Similar to both sizes of HerpChip, the main difference is the husk has a greater variety of particle size, from large down to smaller pieces.
When made damp this substrate holds humidity very well, making it perfect for animals requiring high levels of moisture. It’s manufacturing process involves sterilisation so it should not mould or rot, even if made incredibly damp. It can also be used dry for species from arid environments.
It is highly absorbent and keeps odours at bay. Easy to clean and replace these loose bags are ready to use. The compact bricks require soaking prior to use, where a 4.5kg brick makes 70L of substrate! Buying this substrate in the large bricks makes them much easier to store.
A favourite of our customers, we have found HerpHusk works very well when mixed with HerpCoir to create a naturalistic rainforest floor substrate perfect for any reptile, amphibian or invert from this habitat. Can also be used in bioactive setups.
